Physiological cooling agents like menthol or peppermint oil (which contains menthol) have been used to provide a cooling sensation in many products. TIH Cooling Ingredients are physiological cooling agents which can be used to give a cooling sensation on the skin or mucous membranes in the mouth and can be used to replace or partially replace menthol. A cooling sensation in the mouth is often associated with a fresh breath feeling and thus cooling ingredients are often used in gum and confectionery.
